Why a career in web design and development? For me, web design and development is one of the ultimate challenges that blends the need for creativity, style and flair with the functional, technical and strategic. It stimulates both the left and right brain. Launching a great looking site that is engaging and compelling and seeing the site deliver its message loud and clear, and convert visitors into leads, enquiries and ultimately new revenues is very satisfying. For you, what makes a website truly great?I use the three second test – if I can understand the message, engage with the site and immediately start exploring further within three seconds then that is a great indicator. When you are not up to your armpits in pixels, what do you like to do?Walks with Cadbury, my Chocolate Labrador, are always a great opportunity to relax and ponder – I also play baseball and coach a Little League team and on all-too-infrequent occasions the golf course succeeds in inveigling me just one more time. Three things that always brighten your day?Hugs, my chocolate Labrador and great coffee. If you were planning a dinner party with friends, what would be on the menu?Italian, Italian, Italian – homemade antipasti, a rich and spicy seafood pasta and Tiramisu with mascarpone. Other than web design and development, what are you passionate about?Photography – I’m learning to take my Digital SLR off automatic mode but a long way to go yet to creative excellence. |
